KFOG REVIEW: “WAKEFIELD”
This week brings “Wakefield” or as I call it, “Midlife Crisis: The Movie.”
Based on the short story for The New Yorker by acclaimed novelist E. L. Doctorow and directed/adapted by Robin Swicord (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” “Memoirs of a Geisha” “Matilda”), the film is a sluggish portrait of a descent into madness.
In spite of Bryan Cranston’s acting skills, and Jennifer Garner sort of just being along for the ride, the film is a selfish portrait of ghosting in action.
