Review: Frozen 2, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and The Report

“Frozen 2” fails to melt hearts the same way as its smash hit predecessor, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is more like an okay day that leans too much on an audience being familiar with its source material, and “The Report” is some heavy political fodder about ineffective government inquiries at probably the wrong release time.

t was going to be near impossible to top the smash hit success of “Frozen” so you almost want to congratulate Disney on attempting it. Almost is the key word. Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff return. They’re joined by Evan Rachel Wood, Sterling K. Brown, Alfred Molina, Martha Plympton, and Jason Ritter.

“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is another film where Tom Hanks basically plays Tom Hanks, this time in the guise of Fred Rogers. Be warned this is not a Fred Rogers film, he’s just a character in it. Tom Hanks, Matthew Rhys, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Chris Cooper star.

Finally “The Report” is some tough political fodder that might be frustrating to watch given everything that’s going on in the world right now. It is however a good reminder of why the work is important. Adam Driver, Anette Bening, Jon Hamm, Michael C. Hall, Maura Tierney, Jennifer Morrison, Tim Blake Nelson, Ted Levine, Matthew Rhys, and Corey Stoll star.
