Review: My Spy, Extraction, and The Midnight Gospel

Another week of quarantine so another week of streaming options, lots of unlikely team ups in “My Spy” and “Extraction” and some mindless fun with “The Midnight Gospel” and “Too Hot to Handle” on Netflix.

You don’t have to be a government operative to see that not having to pay movie theater prices for “My Spy” is dodging a bullet. While I love Dave Bautista he doesn’t seem comfortable with the straight man roles he keeps taking. Dave Buatista, Kristen Schaal, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Ken Jeong, and Chloe Coleman star.

In another corner of the extended Marvel cast universe Chris Hemsworth stars in “Extraction” which is a glorified video game movie with 2 cut scenes. Written by Joe Russo and directed by Sam Hargrave, this is just a lot of loud background noise. David Harbour also stars.

Finally a quick shoutout to the existential “The Midnight Gospel” from Duncan Trussell and Pendleton Ward (of Adventure Time) and to the supremely trashy “Too Hot to Handle.”
