Review: The Personal History of David Copperfield, The Last Vermeer, and Princess Switch: Switched Again

David Copperfield is far from magic (yes we know it’s a different David Copperfield). In spite of a stellar cast Armando Iannucci’s The Personal History of David Copperfield fails to make the Dickens classic widely watchable. Guy Pearce tries to give an artistic rendering of a World War 2 art crime thriller in The Last Vermeer but lays it on too thick. Finally Vanessa Hudgens tackles her most ambitious role yet: poorly acting as 3 different versions of herself in Netflix’s The Princess Switch: Switched Again.

More about The Last Vermeer: While Joseph Piller (Claes Bang), a Dutch Jew, was fighting in the Resistance during the Second World War, the witty, debonair aesthete, Han van Meegeren (Guy Pearce) was hosting hedonistic soirées and selling Dutch art treasures to Hermann Goring and other top Nazis.
