Review: Just Mercy, 1917, and Three Christs

Two award contenders and one Christ complex hit the cinemas this week with “Just Mercy” “1917” and “Three Christs.”

While the subject matter of the based on a true story “Just Mercy” is important and relevant, the film relies on it a bit too much to make the audience care. Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, Brie Larson, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Tim Blake Nelson, Rob Morgan, and Darrell Britt-Gibson star.

“1917” is a finely executed war film, but nothing new. I’d prefer innovation over technical execution any day. Dean-Charles Chapman, George MacKay, Richard Madden, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Scott, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong star.

Three Christs” suffers from a Christ complex, and is a patronizing and ultimately pointless experiment that follows three schizophrenic patients and the doctor that treats them. Richard Gere, Peter Dinklage, Walton Goggins, Bradley Whitford, and Julianna Margulies star.
